<image:title>In The News - philly’s girl in the box remains an overlooked mystery - It was late into a warm Thursday afternoon in May, nearly 4 p.m., when Jesse F. Davis spotted a clothesline floating on the Schuylkill. When he hauled it over, he found it was wrapped around a wooden milk box. He cut the clothesline, and a small, headless, badly decomposed body floated to the surface. Davis, a 43-year-old barge worker from Paulsboro, N.J., called harbor patrol. Thus began the public story of the Girl in the Box, a Philadelphia Jane Doe of whom we know as little today as we did when Davis first found her on May 3, 1962. Read More</image:title>

<image:title>In The News - Bensalem Detective Chris McMullin Identifies Another Jane Doe After 29 Years - Beginning in 2002 (20 years ago), Detective Chris McMullin took a fresh look at four cases that had gone “cold” at Bensalem Police Department. A case goes cold when detectives run out of leads. One of these cases led Chris and a handful of others to identify Philly resident Lisa Todd, a woman who was previously known only as “Bucks County’s Jane Doe” or ‘The Publicker Jane Doe’, which we reported on nearly a year ago. You may recall my first story published last summer, where I referenced the “starfish story” (first written by Loren Eiseley), where throwing one starfish back to the sea makes all the difference to each one who makes it home, a beautiful symbol for this hardworking detective eager to find the identity of these Jane Does, stranded on the shores of the unknown. Most recently, this past December, Detective McMullin is proud to say, “We found another starfish.” Read More</image:title>

<image:caption>Cold Case Initiative is attempting to assist the Ohio Office of Attorney General, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) with the case of an unidentified decedent who was found on May 17, 1980 in the City of Cleveland. The partial skeletonized remains were wrapped in a blue blanket, and were found during demolition of an abandoned building. The decedent is a black male, estimated to be late teens to late 20’s, and approximately 5’7” tall. Scientific and investigative advancements can possibly assist with identification of this individual, however financial assistance is needed in order to do so. As a result, NCMEC and CCI will provide funding intended to further this case.</image:caption>
