Every family deserves answers. Every victim deserves to be remembered.

For families.

Cold Case Initiative (CCI) understands how painful and difficult an unresolved case can be. CCI provides funding to law enforcement agencies, coroners, and medical examiners for scientific and investigative work that may help move cases forward.

How families can help:

  1. Contact the agency handling the investigation.

  2. Ask whether the agency is aware of Cold Case Initiative.

  3. Encourage the agency to contact CCI about possible funding.

Only law enforcement agencies, coroners, and medical examiners may submit cases for consideration. CCI does not accept case submissions directly from family members.

Taking the next step.

Start with a conversation.

Contact the agency handling your loved one’s case and ask whether they are familiar with Cold Case Initiative. You can share our agency support page to introduce the funding CCI provides.

Why the agency’s involvement matters.

Scientific and investigative work depends on access to case records and evidence. CCI works through law enforcement agencies, coroners, and medical examiners to support that work.

Another resource for the investigation.

Funding can be one obstacle to pursuing scientific or investigative work. Sharing information about CCI gives the agency another resource to consider as it evaluates possible next steps.
